Some housekeeping notes:
- The domain is now permanently changed to StantonBlog.com. It should redirect automatically, so just set your bookmarks accordingly.
- Commenting will be slightly different, so please feel free to test and post your feedback on the “Need Help?” tab.
- You may sign up for an account to make your posting easier, or you may comment without creating an account. It’s up to you.
- I strongly suggest choosing a “pen name” if you prefer to post anonymously in order to facilitate more meaningful conversations. They can be difficult to follow when there are dozens of people named “Anonymous.” 🙂
- “Popular Posts” and individual page counts for articles will be reset to zero. I’m looking into some options for transcribing those counts directly into the new database, but this may or may not happen. If it does, it might take awhile, because it will be very time intensive.
Thank you for your readership, and for those who are able to contribute financially to this project. The impact this blog has had in people’s lives is inspiring.
God bless!
P.s. – This post will eventually be deleted. If you have technical questions about the new site, please comment on the “Need Help?” tab in the menu.

Excellent!
Any chance of getting away from
Google? They are an even worse threat than Stanton. They steal data, spy on users, use secret algorithms, and suppress information they don’t like.
I’d highly recommend all readers never use the Google search engine again. Swisscows.com is far better. It doesn’t steal user data, and it blocks filth, doing a job that should have been done 26 years ago, in 1993, when the internet was invented. To the indoctrinated mindless drones who aren’t Christian, who believe liberty is doing whatever you feel like doing, you are abusing the Spirit of the Constitution, which clearly shows it was created by and for a moral and a religious people. Without virtue, there can be no liberty. We are fast becoming slaves.
Also, Google consented to work with Communist China, but won’t work with the American military. That’s treason in my book. They deserve to be shot by a firing squad, and I don’t say that lightly. They just got done working with the lamestream media, and the Democrats to seditiously overthrow the lawfully elected president of America. They are an evil and wicked company. If being on the internet means being allied with them, Fakebook, and Amazon, maybe staying off the internet is a good idea. I’m actually agreed with Stanton on that. We can easily have an email blog.
Just canceled my Amazon account, when I found out they banned Tommy Robinson’s book. While we are on here talking about Stanton, there are much bigger threats emerging to Christianity, like Islam, the homosexual degenerate agenda, Marxism, and the entire Democrat party, led by that crackpot lunatic, Bernie Sanders himself, a pinko who never had a job until 40.
Working on getting away from Google, but it's harder than it sounds. Honestly, Google's search is still the best overall, except for ideological or political searches (which is important when it comes to trust, but not the entirety of my search queries on a given day). When it comes to ideology, they are skewed big-time to the left.
I have my family's devices set to use StartPage.com by default, because they license Google's search results, but strip out cookies and personally identifying info. I also use Brave as my default browser, which is code-wise similar to Chrome but with far more privacy tools built-in.
Interesting story…Brave was built by the Christian who built Netscape after he was kicked out of his own company when he supported California's Prop 8 (prohibiting gay marriage). So I like his story, and Brave is a very good privacy browser.
I also have Tor installed for searches I simply don't want Google to record in their database. Nothing illegal, immoral, or unethical, of course, but I do think individuals need to take ownership of their own privacy. I don't want to live in a world where George Orwell's 1984 has come to pass…like China is currently, for instance.
See a lot of you on there Kevin.
On where? Facebook, or Google? And if you're seeing me, you're there too. Lol
Does that mean you're not keeping Merie Weiss.com if you're eventually going to be Stantonblog.com?
Both will go to the final destination. I'll just redirect them all to the right place. That's why I am using the interim domain of MerieWeiss.com. Once Google re-indexes the site on that domain, which I control, then I can completely control the redirection of every page. As it stands right now, I can't redirect http://www.stantonblog.com to stantonblog.com as accurately as I'd like.
Kind of a technical explanation, but hopefully that makes some sense. 🙂
Anyone here have graphic design skills you want to put to good use to come up with a cool logo for the new site?
This is what I have so far—but this is because I'm a writer. It's mostly words! 🙂 If someone wants to take a crack at some other options, I'd be happy to consider them in the new site.
https://www.stantonblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/stanton-blog-logo-2.png
I think it looks great!
Kevin, new site looks great How about some knuckles knocking on a door as well.
Might make a good logo! Lol
There's some discussion on what would be the best URL for the new site. I'd like to hear anyone's thoughts on that, and why.
StantonBlog.com vs. MerieWeiss.com vs. something else?
MerieWeissIsStanton.com
TheCultofMerieWeiss.com
TheCultofStanton.com
ExposingStanton.com
realityvsstanton.com
Something to consider is the fact that the SCOC thinks of Spring Valley as the 'mother church' because that is where Merie started and ran things.
ExposingMerieWeissCofC.com
Exposing should be somewhere in it.
All good ideas about the blog. I'll have to decide sometime soon. 🙂
Kevin if you are thinking of ExposingStanton, I would vote for ExposingMerieWeiss. Maybe a poll? 😀
Everyone has offered some great suggestions for the new blog URL. There are a lot of factors to consider, including audience (those who were around decades ago vs. teens and younger members), consistency across all platforms (yes, I'll be announcing another platform when the time is right), and purpose (reaching those still in vs. reaching those who have long left.
I'm going to proceed as originally planned with MerieWeiss.com being the interim URL, with the final destination as StantonBlog.com. But I've already purchased StantonExposed.com and might purchase more to redirect to the site as shortcuts or special-purpose URLs. For instance, maybe there could be a use for single-page sites covering one particular facet of what we cover here on the full blog.
For instance, I could see it being useful to just hand a card to someone that says "StantonExposed.com."
Here's my newest blog logo…so far. 🙂
https://www.stantonblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/stanton-church-of-christ-merie-weiss-blog-1.png
Looks great!!!
Thanks. It might change again before I launch. That's just how I roll. 🙂
Kevin, I like it!!
I like how love is emphasized and incorporated in the logo. It's a very effective way to make convincing arguments to SCOC members –They need no help with the law dept arguments.
So close to launching the new site! Thanks for your patience. I think sometime Wednesday it will happen.
Just another plug (unsolicited by the way), to sign up on Patreon to support Kevin in this time consuming endeavor. Click on the red button above "Page Views" using the Web Page view on this site. If privacy is an issue use your profile settings in Patreon to make your pledges private. (Scroll down and unclick the box that says 'my pledges are publicly visible'. Kevin has 5 patrons now who are donating a total of $78 per month.
Anon 5:47 – Thank you. I'll do this regardless. But it is encouraging to see people sign up. I'll let Patreon members know some of the inside scoop on what's going on.
Here is an example of a comment made with an account. Signing up for an account is entirely optional. It will improve your user experience by making it easier to manage your comment history. The little photo icon will only be filled in if your email is associated with a Gravatar. You can create a Gravatar here.
Trying for half an hour to figure out avatar
Sorry, I’ll do an FAQ once the kinks are worked out. I think if you’ve signed up for the account here, you can just upload your pic and avoid the Gravatar.org signup. Let me know if that works. And thank you all for being a testing crew! 🙂
Here is an example of a comment made from a personal email address that doesn’t have a Gravatar (photo) associated with it on Gravatar.org. The photo icon will be a “mystery person.”
If you intend to post anonymously, I suggest using a pen name in the Name field so we can all follow the conversation. Otherwise, we have dozens of people named “Anonymous.”
Note that you can now upvote and downvote comments, and sort them by newest, oldest, or most voted. This gives you some ability to filter what you want to respond to a little more easily.
You can also edit your comments to fix typos now…so no need to delete and repost! 🙂
So much stuff!! Looks awesome!!
Thanks! I’m still working on some bugs. For instance pages aren’t displaying comments, only blog posts. 🙂 So I’m still working on stuff, but glad you like it!
I also noticed that the photo from the profile was too big so I reverted to using the Gravatar method. The best way to have your photo attached to your comment is to go to gravatar.org and sign up for a free account. Gravatar is owned by WordPress.com, and allows you to manage photos that you can associate with different email addresses. Sorry for this extra step, I might find better solutions and if so I’ll let everyone know.
Go through there instead of in the account?
Actually, it looks like it is working now! It took your profile photo you uploaded and turned it into an avatar. That’s how I was expecting it to work, but at first it was oversize.
Trying my own avatar. It looked blurry in the preview.
Did you delete it, or did it not show up at all? I don’t see an avatar for you. And did you use gravatar.org, or the native profile photo on this site? Thanks for the feedback…I need all I can get!
Site looks good
Thanks. I have a few bugs to work out and some features to add. It just takes time. Thanks for everyone’s patience!
Hey all, curious to know if anybody here attended the phoenix sect? When DS taught there?
Sorry, I changed the name to initials. I realize this is sometimes a tough judgment call, but I want to err on the side of not making these pages personal, as much as possible.
And I do know there have been commenters here who were from Phoenix. I visited the Phoenix
congregation one time during that era.
Grew up in that church, the leadership there were all child abusing monsters, and the ones that saw looked the other way. MD wife of PD used to beat my sister for being to slow to scramble up on to a couch that was taller than she was, and her daughter was so abusive as our babysitter i quite literally tried to stab her when I was 8. Another disgusting ball of lard of a man named SS (funny coincidence) would physically beat his son JS black and blue. Not exaggerating. Kid carries a double barrel sawn off everywhere he goes now. I get where he’s coming from because it was an abusive situation, you make damn sure nobody can ever hurt you again. There was a man there at one fellowship tall older white Male named Walter, Former MC drill sergeant. Real deep voice but real quiet. Invited 8 year old me to his house for some blueberries. It took 16 years of acting out to finally understand that blueberries don’t have pits. Genuinely considered hunting this skeezbag down and taking vengeance but hell does have pits and alot of them. I used to lie awake at night and cry and I didn’t know why. My mother accused my father of being a pedophile, their marriage fell apart. I remember being sick for 2 weeks once, so bad that I couldn’t move my head without intense pain. Mom told me I had West Nile Virus. I read books like perks of being a wallflower. Hated that book because the ending was so obvious it wasn’t even a shock. Never put two and two together till recently. I finally understand why I have been so terrified of the idea of sex, I’m 24 now and I’ve never been able to develop a loving relationship with anyone. I sought God Heavily a few years ago, really started reading my Bible. Turns out most of it is fairly tales. Moses was actually 4 different people. Noah’s flood, physically impossible, disproved by Numerous studies. There are a few Roman texts outside of the Bible that talk about a Jesus Christ…. the worst part tho is how damn obvious all the lies really are. I always thought of my parents as smart people but they cling to this faith like children do a security blanket. I mean in Exodus the priest hood finally convinces the people that there God is real, and the first edict from God? Build my priests a sort of mobile palace with all the finest of your finery. And god made man in HIS image. Riiiiiiight. Not to mention a true benevolent God would never do half the horrifying shit yahweh did in the Bible. Also, to create an earth, diverse and beautiful, with all sorts of races of people, then pick one race and tell them they are superior? So much so that they have every right to go about genociding everybody else? Also I was told that with God anything is possible. I have found that without him, nothing is impossible. Life is Complex Chemistry in Motion. Science has yet to discover the true nature of consciousness, stuart Hameroff does an amazing job explaining his Model of Orchestrated Objective Reduction, trying to explain that conciousness is contained inside microtubules, a sort of numeral network present in all things, that’s how a single cell paramecium hunts, eats, reproduces, and flees predators with out a brain. We are all made of Stardust, all the chemicals on the periodic table are formed in the heart of supernovae, the death of a star. Carbon alone can make more complex combinations than all the others combined. Amino acids are found on asteroids, and there is a type of clay that when exposed to, the amino acids click right up into strands of RNA. There are organisms called geolyths that can exist for centuries, deep inside rocks. If a larger enough rock, like the one that formed our moon when it collided with earth, could contain these organisms until conditions became livable again… well DNA has a 99.9% perfect replication rate, tthat .1% causes a mutation in our Gene. A gene is literally three amino acids. One amino acid could mess up an entire strand of DNA by switching the reading frame to the right. This is called a mutation. Usually these mutations are harmful, causing lifespan to shorten like sickle cell anemia, where the red blood cells are sickle shaped instead of round, so less oxygen can be carried, and they can cause blood clots to. But it’s your environment that determines what mutations are beneficial. Sickle cell anemia is incredibly resistant to the malaria virus. So if you mutated that in the plains of Africa your lifespan would increase, giving you time to pass that gene into the next generation. This is what evolution is, and it is very real and happening all around us constantly. If a population of an animal species gets separated into different environments, they will eventually grow more and more distinct from each other until they are no longer interfertile, i.e. Darwin’s finches. That’s also why you can crossbreed horses and donkeys to make mules, because along time ago they were the same population of a species that looked like mules do. Some mules are actually still fertile and have even given live birth. On the microscopic level we are all made of particles forming chemical bonds with each other. If the bonds of the chemicals comprising a human ear where broken by a sword going through them, and you were an alien with this understanding and the technology to act on those bonds, it would be easy to reattach that ear like new. And therein lies the greatest flaw of religion, the belief in a cosmic overlord, is that any sufficiently advanced alien civilization would be indistinguishable from God. Our radio communications have been traveling in space for decades now, but as far as they have gone it is literally (no not exaggerating for dramatic effect I mean LITERALLY) a drop in the ocean compared to the size of our galaxy. Which again is a lonely drop in an ever expanding universe that we are still struggling to understand to this day. And the closer we look at our reality the stranger and more complex it becomes. That’s sort of a constant in nature, too. Life on earth has never been as complex as it is today and will only continue to increase in complexity, even if we do destroy our planet and cause our own extinction. This planet has been destroyed many times, check the fossil record, life will come back bigger and better than ever before.
To all the Christians thinking that I need saving: the universe is beautiful, massive and displays incredible symmetry In many instances. Carbon atoms seem almost designed to create concious life. Tell me there is no God and I will laugh in your face. Tell me you know his name, and I will laugh even harder.
To Kevin: you may not want to post this but I hope at least you read it. I never told anyone about the sexual abuse from that man because I had no comprehension of how or why it happened at the time but I knew something was wrong, and I had to get it off my chest. If you don’t like my message here at least take it as a lesson to teach to others of your faith, when satan moves and you watch and say nothing. I will never worship anything ever again, the ever elusive god has to answer for that, not you.
To Walter: I feel sorry for you really. My conscience finally relents. I cant imagine what yours must feel like. I think that is punishment enough.
Just found this comment in the queue for approval, sorry I missed it. I’m approving it for the sake of conversation. Obviously, I can’t verify any of this information, but I have heard enough about some of the Phoenix church’s dysfunction to suspect that there’s some truth to it. My heart breaks for any kids who had to deal with physical, emotional, or God forbid, sexual abuse.
Just know that there is a God in heaven who loves you like no one on earth ever did, or ever could. <3
Very sorry about your loss of innocence, Free Thinker. I am a fan of severe penalties for child molesters. Also, there is a great book, called Sexual Sabotage, which details how the explosion of sexual debauchery, including child molestation happened. https://www.amazon.com/Sexual-Sabotage-Scientist-Unleashed-Corruption/dp/1935071858. I can empathize with your pain, as no child should have to go through that. Unfortunately, our nation was warned in 1969, that if we legalized pornography, children would be molested and murdered far more than ever before. That has happened. And you were an unfortunate and innocent victim of this depraved death culture. But, you don’t have to remain a victim, you can join the movement to remove the depravity. There are already 16 states in America who have declared porn a public health disaster. Stanton takes the easy way out and says anyone who deals with it has lost their mind. https://fightthenewdrug.org/. In reality, there is no depth God cannot deliver a penitent soul from, if they seek, they will find.
Unfortunately, our society is designed to get young people like you into drugs and sex early. Once they do that, it becomes difficult for you to reason. When that is accomplished, it’s virtually impossible for you to find God. But, the key is not to give up hope. You aren’t responsible for what others do to you, you are responsible for how you respond, as we all are. Life is 90% how we respond to it, and 10% what happens to us. We also have tremendous amounts of disinformation from Google, the local news papers, television, and popular culture, designed to mislead the gullible, naïve, and suffering. To find the truth is not easy, and it will take work, but, it can be found. ‘Genius is an infinite capacity for taking pains’ said Carlyle, and he should know, as he wrote an amazing history of the French Revolution, and right before he was set to publish the book, he loaned it to John Stuart Mill to proof read, and Mill’s maid accidentally burned it. So, he had to rewrite the whole book. There are no tasks too difficult to a determined will. “Perseverance is more prevailing than violence; and many things which cannot be overcome when they are together, yield themselves up when taken little by little.” said Plutarch.
However, the Bible is entirely true, though skepticism is quite natural, particularly when your abuse happened in the place you thought God was in. While Stanton does teach a lot of God’s truth, they have imperfect people. No church has all perfect people, though I know for a fact, Stanton never tolerated child molesters, when they were uncovered. One man was discovered, withdrawn from, and committed suicide in Stanton. Another man, who was never known to molest any Christian children, was suspected, immediately fell away, and recently, was arrested by the police, 11 years after he suddenly left the church, on child molestation and child pornography charges.
By reading the Bible, studying it, studying history, getting a library of the classics, you will soon leave your atheist beliefs. The media and schools are controlled by atheists, so it’s no surprise, when you were hurt by the place you believed God was, you turned to the willing arms of atheism. However, it’s got a nasty after taste. If you read the ‘Gulag Archipelago’ by Solzhenitsyn, you’ll soon discover, atheism has horrors worse than you’ve ever known. Also, you are only 24. Visit China, the world’s biggest atheist nation, and criticize the government. They will beat you half to death, and then you can appreciate Christianity.
Anyhow, I pray you are healed from the harm done you as a child, as that is the height of injustice. Start reading the lives of great figures, especially in the Bible, and pattern your life on them.
Your entire essay would be improved considerably by a thorough knowledge of the past. Currently, you see the world through your pain, and what the media and schools have fed you. There is far more to the world.
Because it is important for some people reading this blog to remain totally anonymous, even to Kevin, I am going to explain how to comment with complete anonymity. Click ‘Join the Discussion’ and give yourself a pen-name and make up an email. When you want to post a comment just click ‘Join the Discussion’ and your information should populate with your pen-name and made-up email address. Isn’t it sad this type of anonymity is so important. Craig knows first hand how the church can withdraw even when you’re considered a nonmember.
Thank you. I deeply respect the need for anonymity, even though I strongly wish it wasn’t necessary.
Haven’t had time to diagnose the problem with commenting on “Pages” (in the top menu) vs. “Blog Posts” in the sidebar. For now, use the “Welcome” blog post to comment on issues you’re seeing. When I get the pages commenting fixed, I’ll delete this post.
ANONYMITY: For anyone concerned that entering your email in the Guest comment field could expose your identity to me on the back end, several have discovered that you can enter a fake email there. It is a required field in the software I’m using, and I can’t change that, but feel free to use “anon@stantonblog.com” or any other made up email.
PINNING THIS POST: I’ll be out of Internet range for a few days, but I’ll will look into appending a short reminder about the above right next to the comment box.
BETTER FUNCTIONALITY: I do want to note, however, that you’ll have a better user experience be actually registering for an account rather than commenting only as a guest. If you are logged into your own account, you can edit your comments later, and use the thumbs up/thumbs down buttons, for instance.
THANK YOU! I want to thank everyone again for sticking with the new migrated site. I’d love feedback on anything you think I could make better. I’ll put it on my list for consideration as I get time. If there’s something you particularly like, please tell me that as well; it is encouraging, first of all, but it also lets me know what NOT to change as I work on future improvements. 🙂
FYI, just a housekeeping note about the number of comments. The actual number of comments is at least 1,000 to 1,500 higher than the sidebar counter. That’s because Google deleted all comments that had been authenticated via Google+ when they got rid of that service. When I first moved the blog over to this new platform, I had adjusted the count by hand in the code, but an automatic software update deleted that modification. I’m just going to leave it; it’s not worth the extra custom coding to make it more accurate. 🙂
Posting anonymously, even to me as the site admin, is easy to do. Just register using a fictitious name and email address. You could also post as a Guest by doing the same, but you lose out on some features that only work when you are logged in (thumbs up/down, editing your post after you publish it, etc.).
It bears repeating that I think it’s best to converse openly and transparently, but some have very good reasons for not doing so yet (family still in the sect who could face social retribution, etc.).
I think the practice of anonymous posters using a consistent pen name has improved the conversation here, don’t you?
Always feel free to make suggestions for things that can be improved!
